Achord held their 1st big charity concert at Sunshine Taverna, Curium Beach in November 2015, where they joined together with the newly-formed Cyprus Brass Band (under the instruction of Jamie McVicar and visiting Welsh Choir, The James Lambert Singers (under the direction of Mair Evans).
Following the success of this concert, where over €2,000 was raised for the Royal British Legion, and with over 300 people attending to support the event, Achord's Musical Director decided to organise another Concert with Cyprus Brass Band, but this time getting together with local Barbershop Chorus, Island Blend (under the direction of Kerry Mills).
Achord's MD, Julie Edwards, said "The concert in November was the first large-scale concert that Achord had undertaken, with the Choir being only 9 months old. The concert was absolutely brilliant. We had never envisaged such a huge audience coming along to support both the performers and the charity. Such positive feedback from the concert just kept coming in, with calls for more evenings of the same. So, with this in mind, we decided to put on a second Grand Charity Concert combining three local groups."
The concert was another huge success with the audience giving a standing ovation. We are still counting the funds but at least €2,000 was raised for The Royal British Legion and PASYKAF, The Cyprus Association. of Cancer Patients and Friends.
We should have some videos of the amazing performances on-line soon!
